In the realm of private jet travel, avionics matter. In the Gulfstream G500 the avionics suite of choice is the Honeywell SPZ-8500 system. This is a combo pack of the Primus 2000 and the SPZ-8000 system. With this systems pilots will be utilizing six large-format CRT’s, triple digital air data computers, two FMS’s, triple Laseref IV inertial reference systems, dual Mode S transponders, dual Collins VHF comm/nav radios, HF transceivers and a Primus 880 weather radar. As a passenger you don’t have to understand how to read all of these instrument displays, but as a pilot you’ll want a system that is easy to manage and read. What you care about is flying comfort and for that the G500 can’t be beat! Most often the G500’s cabin is arranged to seat up to 10 passengers in cozy comfort. However, it does have the capacity to fly 19 guests. Everyone who flies will enjoy the same spaciousness of the cabin thanks to a length of 42.6 feet, a head room height of 6.2 feet and a width of 5.5 feet wide. Because the G500 is mean to long-range travel, there is a full range of corporate perks available like a bathroom with shower, a conference room setting and numerous workstations. Power is brought to the G500 by a pair of BMW/RR BR-700-710-C4-11 turbofan engines. Each of these power house engines can produce up to 15,385 lbs of thrust. Thanks to a new retrofit of the fuselage this G500 now has a wingspan of 93.5 feet up from 74.6 on previous models. This aerodynamic friendly design lets the G500 travel farther and faster. Isn’t that just what you want?
