Challenger 850 Cabin

With all the available choices in private jets, it is sometimes hard to keep track of who is who and what is the best craft. You won’t have to worry about that when looking at the Challenger 850 because this jet is in a class by itself. The 850 started out as part of the Canadair’s Regional Jet fleet. Around 2003 it was given a make-over and renamed as the Bombardier Challenger 850. The result is a jet with the performance of a big aircraft, but the comfort of a private plane. In other words, the best of both worlds.

Used most often as a high volume business shuttle means that this 850 needs a mighty engine. That requested is delivered by a pair of General Electric CF34-3B1 turbofan engines that fires up to an equally mighty 8,729 lbs of thrust apiece. Even though this craft falls into the heavy jet category, it can still deliver the speed. At a flight ceiling of 41,000 the 850 will be cruising along at .85 Mach and only takes a fast 32 minutes to climb up to 37,000 feet.

As a regional airliner the Challenger 850 has maintained a level of luxury with an interior cabin that measures 48.4 feet long, 8.3 feet wide and 6.1 feet high. Go ahead and stand up; you’ll have plenty of head room. Also as a heavy jet, this Challenger can fly up to 30 passengers depending on how the seats are arranged. There’s a decent sized aft bathroom and 324 cubic feet of cargo space to hold each one of those 30 flyers’ luggage. For a company trip, you can’t beat the Challenger 850.
