Gulfstream II Cabin

They say it’s lonely at the top. Technically that might make the Gulfstream II a very lonely jet; at least in terms of it’s ranking because this model Gulfstream is far and above in its own league. As a point of clarity, that “league” would be the transcontinental jet class. Although first introduced back in 1965, today’s version of the Gulfstream II is every bit as innovative as you might expect from a leader like Gulfstream.

You don’t get to be number one without making improvements. With the modern incarnation of the G-II you’ll find a new swept wing design and upgraded engines. That would be those twin Rolls-Royce Spey Mk 511-8 models that are rated at a heroic 11,400 lbs of thrust. You need that kind of power to make those transcontinental crossings. Plus those tip-tanks on the wings holding 4,000 pounds more fuel don’t hurt either.

As for the cabin on the G-II it is, hands down, one of the most spacious in its class. For stand up room you’ve got over six feet along with a width of 33 feet. The baseline seating configuration of the G-II is what they call the “executive arrangement.” This sets up a club/divan/individual arrangement that allows for up to 14 passengers to fly in style.

While there is nothing wrong with going “old school” you certainly don’t want to take that approach in the cockpit. With the avionic suite in the G-II you’ll the most advance system available in the form of the Honeywell SPZ-800 with the Sperry SP-50G autopilot. This is the jet that all other jets wish they could be when they grow up!
