Jet Charter Flights to Southern California
Southern California, known for its impeccable weather, rolling beaches, and star power is one of the most popular private jet destinations in the world. While traveling to Southern California via private jet is always fun it is important to know as much as possible about Southern California Private Jet Charters. It is important to make sure that not only are you flying on the safest and nicest aircraft but that you fly into an airport close to your destination to avoid Southern California’s well known and often unbearable traffic.
These are the following major destinations for private jet charters in Southern California with a brief description of their benefits and drawbacks.
San Diego – Travel to San Diego is pretty straightforward as San Diego (Airport code SAN) is relatively easy to get in and out of with reasonable landing and FBO fees. Most private jet travelers fly into San Diego Airport though Carlsbad (CRQ), El Cajon (CJN) and Murrietta/Temecula (F70) are also common choices.
LAX (Los Angeles) – A fantastic airport with long runways a beautiful FBO and on site customs. The main drawback of utilizing jet charter out of LAX is the commercial airline traffic which at peak times can cause significant delays.
Van Nuys – Also serving Los Angeles and one of the most (if not the most) popular private jet airports in the worlds is Van Nuys Airport (VNY). Not only is it close to Malibu, the San Fernando Valley, Beverly Hills, and Hollywood but Van Nuys is strictly a general aviation airport with very few noise restrictions and no airlines.
Santa Monica – is a popular choice for travelers headed to or from, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Beverly Hills, Malibu, Venice, and Santa Monica. Santa Monica (SMO) is a great alternate airport to LAX and is under 10 miles away. One of the drawbacks to Santa Monica Airport is stringent noise and hours restrictions.
Burbank – Burbank Airport (BUR) is another great airport serving the same communities as Van Nuys Airport. One of the biggest drawbacks to Burbank Airport is the commercial traffic though it is frequently pretty light and does not often create long delays.
Long Beach – Long Beach Airport (LGB) which is technically located in Los Angeles County is one of the main airports serving Orange County the other being Santa Ana. With ample runway space almost any sized private jet can land here. While serviced by some major airlines such as JetBlue and Alaska commercial aviation traffic tends to be light.
Santa Ana – Santa Ana airport or John Wayne Airport (SNA) is the main and only major airport in Orange County. Conveniently located close to Anaheim, Irvine, Newport Beach and Laguna SNA airport is a great choice for private jet travelers. With one of the shortest runways of any major airport it is important to check in advance if the aircraft you charter will be able to utilize SNA airport. Other local airports serving Orange County are Fullerton Airport (FUL) Ontario Airport (ONT).
Santa Barbara is an airport typically utilized by vacationer seeking to take advantage of California’s beautiful coast, world famous wineries, 5 star golf courses and relaxing atmosphere. Santa Barbara is serviced by Santa Barbara Airport (SBA).
