The show must go on…
Although viewership of the Oscars has steadily declined over recent years, controversy surrounding the awards ceremony certainly has not. After the Kevin Hart debacle, the 91st Academy Awards will take place without a host. It is not the first time the awards ceremony has been host-less. That being said, the last time around things did NOT go well. Thirty years ago in 1989 when the show found themselves without a host, the monologue was replaced by a cringe-worthy performance by Rob Lowe….singing and dancing with Snow White. While the actor was able to work his way back from the epic fail, it was a career-ender for the show’s producer Allan Carr.
With the quirky personalities of the actors and celebrities attending the event, there has never been a shortage of uncomfortable spectacle during the Academy Awards: Adrian Brody planting one on an unsuspecting Halle Berry; Roberto Benigni jumping on his chair (and fellow attendees) to accept his award; Jack Palance doing push-ups on stage. But 2017’s “Envelopegate” blunder wins for the most awkward. With the cast and crew of “La-La Land” celebrating their big win on stage, they were very publicly informed that they were actually NOT the winners. PSYCH!
The evening is an intoxicating mix of glamour, star power and the possibility that anything can happen…broadcast on live TV!
If you are flying to Los Angeles to attend the Academy Awards, your private charter can choose among three airports to use. Van Nuys Airport (KVNY) is the most convenient landing option for going to the Dolby Theater in Hollywood where the show is held. As a private-only airport, it is also much more serene and easy to navigate than LAX, Los Angeles’ commercial airport. Private charters can also use Hawthorne Airport which is L.A.’s other private-only airport, but for those headed to Hollywood, it is a longer drive than Van Nuys.
If you are coming from New York to Los Angeles there is a good chance you can take advantage of an empty leg flight. There are currently several empty legs flights from Teterboro, NYC’s private airport, to Van Nuys, starting on February 19th. From wherever you are coming, ElJet can facilitate your private charter to Los Angeles and the 91st Academy Awards!
